Burel is a Portuguese handmade fabric made entirely of wool and produced in the mountains. Its flexibility, high strength and robustness leads it to withstand intensive use without changing color and shape, making it ideal for footwear and perfect for achieving a unique comfort.

Burel is also water-resistant and has very good thermal insulation properties.

These boots are manufactured under the Goodyear Welt Technic: they are water-resistant, they can be resoled and the ventilation is superior over other shoes' construction.

Unique boots!

All my friends keep asking me what are my boots made of! I was surprised to read at By The Mountain that they were using this ancient material called burel, that's an old Portuguese tradition of treating wool. So I really had to order those to try them on! Now, 2 months after wearing them regularly, my boots keep amazing me because of their comfort, and everyone else, because of their unique look.
